From 1996 to 2007 Theresa Bergne was the public art consultant for the Dockland developers Canary Wharf Group plc, where she commissioned artists to create permanent works within the new buildings and public spaces as well as managed a series of exhibitions in the lobby of One Canada Square, Jubilee Park, 40 Bank Street and within the Window Galleries at Cabot Place East.
Some fifty works are sited across the Canary Wharf estate ranging from integrated architectural commissions in glass and stone, to stand alone bronzes in some of the public spaces.
The Public Art programme is currently being celebrated in a publication, Sculpture at Canary Wharf: A Permanent Collection, to join its earlier counterpart, Sculpture at Canary Wharf: A Decade of Exhibitions. To find out more, or to order a copy of either book, please contact Keith Watson.
